Oil Turmoil: Big Oil Is Ripping Us Off

So I'm on my way to the corner petrol station for my weekly fill of petroleum and I noticed that the gas prices have skyrocketed to well over $3.00 a gallon, which I find completely outrageous considering gas was only $2.87 a few weeks earlier.

Knowing I wouldn't be able to fill my tank I only put in a cool $20, which barely got me half a tank.

Pissed off I walked into the store violent as hell and asked "Whats with the freaking ridiculously high gas prices" The cashier said "It's because of Libya and the rioting in the middle east, don't you watch the news?" I responded with...

"Of course I watch the frickin news, and thats bullshit, we get less than 10% of our oil from the middle east. We get more oil from US, Canada and Mexico than all the countries in the middle east combined. The oil companies are ripping us off, they think we're stupid, how is it that one country, that hardly produces any oil to begin with effects the price of oil so much? The truth is it doesn't, but the oil companies like Exxon and BP think that we'll believe it, so they raise the price to make more money, It's ridiculous, and it needs to stop. These oil companies are out of control!"

I totally agree. But I also feel that we should give huge tax breaks to clean, alternative energy.

Multinational corporations and banks, thats where the true power lies.

These companies know that people will buy it anyways. You NEED oil, to go to work, to heat you home, to enjoy all the modern comforts of life. And their greed will make sure you pay.

Loved the two images. Oil has always been a lucrative business. I actually have a post on Oil prices on my blog too that is related to this. Thank you for posting!

Just when I think my eyes have been opened, I realize they are still more shut than I realized, I'll have to look into this further. Had no idea so little of our oil was from the middle east.

I agree, and I'm not trying to put anyone down. But I don't understand how people can complain about oil prices. It's 2011 there are alternatives. Quit sucking on the tits of the oil company and do something about it.

I'm with Siphil on this one, alternatives that existed for about 20 years now. And it's not functionality that have kept them from being put into mainstream use, if the fact that obscene profits are made from slurping fermented dinosaur guts out of the ground...
