If we restrict guns not only are we being unconstitutional by not abiding by the 2nd amendment, but we are putting our citizens at risk because they wont be able to protect themselves while the criminals will find ways to get weapons anyway, then they will be able to pick off the population one by one and nobody will be able to stop them because nobody will have the tools to stop them.

I think the politicians on both sides know better than to try and mess with the 2nd Amendment at this point. And I don't think England is paying attention to the gun in that poster either...well maybe Elton John.

In the Uk, obviously, guns are illegal. And co-incidentally, gun crime is not a problem. The link seems obvious.
but in the uk guns can't be smuggled through the mexican border so the criminals can't get guns as easily, so it might work out differently, but dont forget the uk still has the IRA blowing shit up every five minutes so maybe there is a problem there.

I think tis issue is a bit more complex than that. The way I see it, a gun is usually used for intimidation, to get a victim to subdue to your will, it only becomes a lethal situation if the other party also has a gun, only than does it become a matter of life and death.

no weapons at all would be nice, BUT thats a utopian ideal. I would rather have a gun to protect myself from those who will always have guns.

has anyone even considered that having a gun just makes you look awesome? I'd like to get a machine gun or a deagle just for the "bad ass" effect, and never shoot it.

the problem is that guns are too often sold to people who are mentally unstable and shouldn't be trusted with a gun. And lets not kid ourselves. The 2nd amendment was talking about muskets, not the automatic rifles we see today. Big difference.
The 2nd Amendment is farcical. It was meant to give ordinary citizens the right to form militias with their 18th century guns. They didn't give somebody the right to have 50 handguns 'just because'. Anybody who thinks that is lying to themselves.

I like guns and all but am for a stricter restriction on who they sell them to.
